Siemens Corporation Teams with South Forsyth High School Students for Job Training Program
A pilot project spearheaded by The Global Workforce Initiative (a partnership between the state, the Georgia Foundation for Public Education and several international businesses with a presence in Georgia) has teamed South Forsyth High School students with Siemens Corporation in an attempt to solve one of the biggest challenges business leaders face today – the lack of qualified workers,
The goal of the program is twofold, creating a win-win scenario in which the companies help students attain the keys skill required to secure manufacturing jobs after graduation while ultimately creating a more highly qualified employment pool from which Siemens, and other manufacturing companies, can draw.
South Forsyth students who are enrolled in the manufacturing career pathway program are being instructed by a teacher trained at Siemens’ Drive Technologies Division plant in Alpharetta, using real-world training materials donated by the company.
According to its website, Siemens has three Forsyth County facilities in Alpharetta and employs approximately 60,000 people in the US and over 370,000 worldwide. The company provides a broad range of products and services to improve the way we live and work including automation and control, building technologies, energy and power, financial services, healthcare, industrial solutions, and mobility.
The GWI was created by the General Assembly in 2010 to promote educational programs needed to educate production workers, technologists, scientists, engineers, etc.
